Scalable Capital Review (2026): Is It the Right Broker for Your Investing Style?

A broker built around consistency

From the moment we started researching Scalable Capital, it became clear that almost every feature is designed around one goal: helping investors invest consistently over the long term. Savings Plans. Fractional investing. Automatic recurring purchases. Interest on idle cash. A subscription model for active investors. Everything points in the same direction.

Unlike platforms that try to offer every possible investing feature, Scalable Capital focuses on making long-term investing as frictionless as possible.

InvestBeacon Tested

During our research, we didn't get the impression that Scalable Capital was trying to become the next Interactive Brokers or the next Saxo. Instead, it feels like a platform designed for people who want to invest every month without overcomplicating the process.

Setting up recurring investments is straightforward. The interface is clean. The pricing structure is easy to understand. And the platform consistently encourages disciplined, long-term investing rather than frequent trading. That philosophy is one of the reasons Scalable Capital has become increasingly popular among passive investors, particularly in Germany.

What makes Scalable Capital different?

Every broker we've reviewed has a defining characteristic. Trading 212 focuses on automation. Lightyear focuses on simplicity. Trade Republic combines investing with banking. Interactive Brokers is built for professionals. Scalable Capital focuses on consistency. It isn't trying to convince you to trade more — it's trying to make sure you keep investing. That may sound subtle, but it's one of the clearest product philosophies we've seen.

InvestBeacon Insight

Investing successfully often has less to do with finding the perfect investment and more to do with staying consistent over many years.

Scalable Capital is one of the few brokers whose entire platform appears to be designed around that idea.

Who is Scalable Capital built for?

After reviewing the platform, we think Scalable Capital is best suited to investors who already know how they want to invest. You're not looking for thousands of advanced trading tools, you're not looking to trade options every day, and you're not searching for access to every stock exchange in the world. Instead, you're looking for a platform that helps you build wealth through regular investing with as little friction as possible.

Pricing — built around recurring investing

After spending time researching Scalable Capital, one thing became obvious: this isn't a broker designed around active trading. It's designed around building wealth consistently over time. Instead of encouraging frequent trades, Scalable Capital rewards investors who build long-term habits through recurring investments and ETF Savings Plans.

ETF Savings Plans

This is where Scalable Capital genuinely stands out. The platform offers one of Europe's largest selections of Savings Plans, including more than 1,900 ETF Savings Plans, thousands of stock Savings Plans, fractional investing from just €1, flexible execution frequencies and automatic Savings Plan increases to help offset inflation. Most importantly — Savings Plan executions are free on both the FREE and PRIME+ plans.

InvestBeacon Tested

Scalable Capital doesn't try to overcomplicate recurring investing.

Setting up a Savings Plan is straightforward, and once it's running, there is very little maintenance required. If your goal is to automate long-term investing, the process is refreshingly simple.

FREE vs PRIME+

Scalable Capital offers two pricing models. FREE Broker has no monthly subscription, €0.99 per manual trade, and free ETF and stock Savings Plans — suitable for most long-term investors. PRIME+ costs €4.99 per month and adds unlimited commission-free trades of €250 or more on the European Investor Exchange (EIX) and gettex, higher functionality and portfolio tools, lower costs for certain crypto products and the same free Savings Plans. For investors who trade regularly, PRIME+ can become cost-effective. For someone who only buys one ETF every month, FREE will often be more than enough.

Interest on uninvested cash

Another feature we like is the interest paid on eligible uninvested cash. At the time of writing, Scalable Capital offers 2.50% annual interest on eligible cash balances under its current terms. That means money waiting to be invested doesn't necessarily sit idle.

InvestBeacon Insight

Cash is part of your portfolio too.

If you regularly transfer money before investing it through monthly Savings Plans, earning interest while that cash is waiting can be a meaningful bonus over time.

Where Scalable Capital becomes less competitive

This is the part that many reviews either skip or don't explain particularly well. Scalable Capital keeps explicit trading commissions low, but that simplicity comes with a trade-off. Most orders are executed through the European Investor Exchange (EIX) or gettex. Unlike brokers such as Interactive Brokers, you generally don't have the same flexibility to choose from a broad range of execution venues for every trade. For many long-term ETF investors this won't matter; for more experienced investors who care about execution venues, liquidity and spreads, it may.

Xetra isn't free

If you specifically choose to execute your order through Xetra, the pricing changes. Every Xetra trade costs €3.99 per trade plus a trading venue fee of 0.01% (minimum €1.50), regardless of whether you're on the FREE or PRIME+ plan. For investors who always want to trade on Germany's primary exchange, it's worth factoring that into the overall cost.

Customer support

During our research, we found recurring comments from users on Trustpilot and Reddit mentioning slow response times, delays during account verification and onboarding, frustration with the AI chatbot before reaching a human agent, and delays in receiving tax documents in certain countries. That doesn't mean every customer has a negative experience — many investors use Scalable Capital for years without ever needing support. However, the consistency of these comments across multiple independent platforms suggests customer service is one area where Scalable Capital still has room for improvement.

Platform experience — simple by design

The first thing we noticed while researching Scalable Capital is that the platform rarely tries to impress you. There are no social feeds, no copy trading, no complicated order tickets, no endless lists of advanced trading tools. Instead, almost everything revolves around helping investors stay consistent over the long term. The interface is clean, easy to navigate, and most importantly, it stays out of your way.

Mobile app

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

Modern, well organised and easy to use. Setting up Savings Plans takes only a few taps.

Desktop platform

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆

Clean and functional. More information than beginner brokers, less complexity than professional terminals.

After comparing Scalable Capital with every broker we've reviewed so far, we'd place its user experience somewhere between Trade Republic and Lightyear. Lightyear still offers the most polished and visually refined experience; Trade Republic remains one of the simplest investing apps available; Scalable Capital sits comfortably in the middle.

Product selection

Although Scalable Capital markets itself primarily as an ETF investing platform, it offers a broader range of investments than many people realise. Eligible investors can access stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, crypto ETPs, commodities and listed derivatives. For the vast majority of retail investors, that's more than enough. Where Scalable Capital differs from brokers like Interactive Brokers or Saxo is depth rather than breadth — you won't find the same level of institutional trading tools or access to every global exchange, but for long-term investors building diversified portfolios, the available investment universe is extensive.

InvestBeacon Insight

Having access to more products doesn't automatically make a broker better.

What's more important is whether those products match your investing strategy. For investors focused on long-term wealth building through diversified portfolios, Scalable Capital offers everything most people are likely to need.

Safety and regulation

This is one of Scalable Capital's strongest areas. The company is supervised in Germany and operates under one of Europe's strictest regulatory environments. It now holds its own banking licence, allowing it to provide many services directly rather than relying entirely on third-party banking partners. Client assets remain segregated from the company's own assets, and eligible cash balances benefit from the applicable German deposit protection framework. For long-term investors, this provides an additional level of confidence — not because regulation removes investment risk, but because it reduces the operational risk associated with the institution holding your investments.

Where we'd like to see improvements

Despite everything Scalable Capital does well, there are still areas where we think the platform could improve: expanding availability beyond its current list of supported countries, improving customer support response times, offering greater flexibility over order execution venues, and continuing to develop tools for more advanced investors. None of these issues undermine the platform's core strengths — but addressing them would make Scalable Capital significantly more competitive across a broader range of investors.

Scalable Capital vs the competition

Scalable Capital vs Trade Republic

These are probably the two closest competitors. Both are German platforms, both focus on long-term investors, both offer recurring investing and fractional investing. The biggest difference is positioning. Trade Republic has gradually evolved into a banking app with investing features. Scalable Capital remains focused almost entirely on investing. If you like combining your investments, spending account and debit card in one place, Trade Republic has the advantage. If you simply want an investing platform built around recurring investing, Scalable Capital offers a more focused experience.

Scalable Capital vs Trading 212

Trading 212 remains one of our favourite platforms for beginners — zero-commission investing, Pies, AutoInvest and broader European availability. Scalable Capital takes a different approach. Rather than building social or visual automation tools, it focuses on traditional recurring investing through Savings Plans. Both platforms encourage long-term investing; they simply do it in different ways.

Scalable Capital vs Interactive Brokers

These platforms serve completely different audiences. Interactive Brokers offers significantly more markets, more exchanges, more order types and considerably lower FX costs for experienced investors. Scalable Capital offers a much simpler experience. If you're building a straightforward ETF portfolio and don't need institutional-level tools, Scalable Capital will feel much easier to use. If your investing becomes increasingly sophisticated over time, Interactive Brokers offers substantially more flexibility.

Scalable Capital vs Lightyear

Lightyear and Scalable Capital share a similar philosophy. Both focus on simplicity, both are clean and approachable, both work well for long-term investors. The difference lies in execution. Lightyear delivers a more polished user interface and broader European availability. Scalable Capital offers a more mature recurring investing ecosystem, including one of the largest selections of ETF Savings Plans in Europe.

If we had to describe Scalable Capital in one sentence...

Scalable Capital is a broker built for disciplined long-term investors who value consistency and automation over maximum flexibility.

Final verdict

Scalable Capital has a very clear identity. It isn't trying to become the cheapest broker in Europe, it isn't trying to compete with professional trading platforms, and it isn't trying to build a financial super app. Instead, it focuses on one thing: making long-term investing as straightforward as possible. After researching the platform, we think it delivers on that promise.

The recurring investing experience is excellent. The ETF Savings Plans are among the best we've seen. The interface is clean and approachable. And the platform's banking licence and German regulatory oversight provide a high level of confidence from a safety perspective. That doesn't mean it's the right choice for everyone — geographic availability remains limited, customer support receives mixed feedback, and investors who want access to multiple execution venues or more advanced trading functionality may find the platform restrictive over time.

Ultimately, Scalable Capital is best suited to investors who already know what they want: build wealth steadily, invest consistently, keep things simple. If that sounds like your investing style, Scalable Capital is one of the strongest platforms currently available — provided it's supported in your country.
