Our take
For investors who specifically want business-credit exposure and will investigate issuers. Concentration, counterparty obligations and limited exits matter more than the 1%.
On this page · 12 sections
Debitum gives retail investors access to financial instruments connected to business lending. Its operator, SIA DN Operator, is a Latvian licensed investment firm. That regulated structure is relevant, but the investment decision still turns on the businesses, issuers and assets behind each instrument. [D1]
Our central view is that Debitum deserves a more specific assessment than “regulated P2P with up to 15%.” You need to understand what finances the payments, which entities are connected and when your principal can actually return. An attractive signup offer does not resolve those questions.
What you invest in
Debitum's ABS model pools business and factoring loans into securities. Its own help material distinguishes ABS buyback arrangements from redemption obligations attached to Notes. The base prospectus for the selected issue governs the obligation. [D2], [D3]
This is different from lending directly to a neighbour or simply buying ownership of pledged land. There are contractual steps between your investment and the economic asset. Before investing, identify the issuer, the party owing the cash flow and the entity expected to repurchase or redeem if things go wrong.
For a property- or forestry-linked issue, a useful question is what a sale of the asset could realistically recover after senior claims, legal costs and time. A valuation is an input to that answer, rather than cash already available to pay investors.
What regulation does—and does not—do
Latvijas Banka's register confirms the operator's investment-services licence. Its compensation-system information lists SIA DN Operator among participants and describes eligible outstanding liabilities up to €20,000. The scheme excludes losses from instrument price changes or illiquidity. [D1], [D4]
The practical implication is straightforward: this is not €20,000 insurance on failed business loans. Oversight of the investment firm, the legal segregation of client assets and the performance of an issuer are related but separate subjects.
Ask what would happen if the issuer failed while the platform continued operating normally. If the answer is a recovery process, the investor still carries credit risk even when the account service has worked correctly.
The 1% partner cashback
The partner campaign description supplied to InvestBeacon states that referred investors receive 1% cashback on investments made during the first 30 days after registration. It also states a €10 starting investment. This is partner-supplied campaign evidence, not a completed test of payment. [D5]
Illustratively, €500 of eligible investment would produce €5 cashback and €2,000 would produce €20. These examples assume the advertised percentage applies to the whole qualifying amount without an undisclosed cap. Depositing funds without making a qualifying investment is not the same action.
The partner material does not yet specify the precise eligible products, payment timing, minimum qualifying amount, cap and treatment of repayments, reinvestment, cancellations and early redemption, so confirm them on the platform. Debitum's generic cashback help explains that payout timing varies by campaign; it cannot establish the timing for this particular offer. [D6]
There is also a separate personal referral scheme. Its help page describes €20 for each participant, with a €1,000 investment condition and a clock starting after KYC and assessment. We do not combine it with the affiliate 1% offer unless Debitum confirms that combination. [D7]
Access to your money: separate the wallet from an investment
Debitum's traditional investment help says invested positions are committed to the asset's repayment schedule and there is no secondary market for those positions. A bullet repayment leaves principal committed until the end; an amortising schedule returns it gradually. [D8]
The withdrawal guide describes available wallet funds, not an unconditional exit from a Note. It also requires a manual SEPA transfer to verify a payout bank account; an internet-banking deposit alone does not verify that account. Wallet withdrawals are described as free and usually processed within three business days. [D9]
A visitor who arrives for the cashback therefore needs two timelines. The first is how long until the reward is credited. The second is how long until the invested principal is repaid and withdrawable. They can be very different.
Debitum Flow needs its own explanation
Flow is a separate arrangement for long-term Notes with a pre-maturity redemption request. Current help describes 8% annual interest paid daily, an entry of €10 per selected Note, and a FIFO queue. Indicative next-day and weekly limits depend on liquidity; a request can remain pending and be paid in parts. [D10]
Flow should not inherit a blanket “no early exit” statement written for traditional positions. Equally, it should not be presented as instant cash. Daily interest describes the payment frequency while capital remains invested, not the speed at which an entire position can be redeemed.
The 1% affiliate bonus's applicability to Flow is unconfirmed. We would not direct a visitor into Flow on the assumption that every Debitum campaign covers it.
Concentration is the main research question
Both re:think P2P and P2P Empire raise concerns about concentrated exposure to a Latvian forestry/land ecosystem and connections between financing entities. They also discuss unresolved questions about related-party transactions and asset valuations. These are attributed reviewer concerns, not findings of wrongdoing by InvestBeacon. We have not independently audited land-register transactions or established a regulatory breach. [D11], [D12]
Even without adopting an allegation, the portfolio lesson is material. Several issuer names may still rely on the same regional asset market, business network or refinancing source. Counting names alone can overstate diversification.
A current assessment of this concentration requires an issue-by-issue exposure map, independently supported collateral values and the relevant audited issuer accounts. Historical percentages cited by reviewers do not establish the current allocation.
Track record: avoid a blanket “zero defaults” claim
The partner description promotes a 0% default figure. Debitum's own historical updates describe Ukraine-linked Chain Finance assets, suspended repayments and a transfer of management obligations to DN Funding Alpha from August 2023. [D5], [D13]
Those records mean the metric needs a definition: which period, instrument population and treatment of restructurings are included? We would not turn an undefined marketing statistic into “no investors have ever experienced delayed or impaired investments.” Nor do those historical records establish the exact current recoverable balance.
Costs and returns
An investor's outcome is the cash recovered, minus fees and tax, adjusted for how long it took. A high contractual coupon can coexist with a lower realised return if capital sits unpaid. A bonus adds value only if it is actually earned and retained.
Read each instrument's costs and repayment terms. The partner page says no investment fees, while the official wallet guide confirms no withdrawal fee. That does not establish that every third-party payment, recovery procedure or future product has zero cost. [D5], [D9]
Our preliminary assessment
Debitum may interest investors who specifically want business-credit exposure and are prepared to investigate individual issuers. The regulatory framework and published product documents are useful starting points. Concentration, counterparty obligations and limited exit options require equal attention.
It is a weak fit for a reader who wants to park money briefly, earn a reward and guarantee a quick exit. The right signup is an informed one by someone comfortable with the actual investment, rather than a visitor attracted by a percentage alone.
Frequently asked questions
Is Debitum P2P or P2B?
Its emphasis is business lending, so P2B is the more informative description. The legal investment is the specific security described in its documents. [D2]
Does a buyback obligation remove the risk?
No. A contractual obligation is useful only if the obligated counterparty can meet it. Read the issue's trigger, scope and financial backing. [D3]
Does a deposit alone earn the 1%?
The partner offer describes investments within 30 days, not money merely transferred to the wallet. [D5]
Can I withdraw after receiving cashback?
Reward credit and repayment of principal are different. Traditional positions follow their repayment schedule; Flow follows its separate liquidity-dependent mechanism. [D8], [D10]
